THERE is a new-look Vodafone store in Basingstoke’s Festival Place.

It opened last week and is part of the Newbury-headquartered communication giant’s £100million retail expansion plan, making the Basingstoke store one of the biggest in the country.

The store on the lower ground floor of the shopping centre had closed in May for the makeover.

Behind the scenes, it was getting a ‘global refit’ – a new, international state-of-the-art Vodafone store format with improved technology, live devices and tablets which double as mobile tills. This comes with a dramatic new look, and more space to serve Vodafone customers.

Store manager Martin Cosser said Vodafone’s goal is to improve shopper experience and bring high street shopping to life.

The investment will create 1,400 new jobs across the country, with Prime Minister David Cameron recently expressing his backing and support for the scheme.

Martin said: “The team and I are over the moon with our new store – it’s great to be a part of a really big step Vodafone are taking to improve shopper experience.

“We’ve been so excited the past couple of weeks, and can’t wait to show the Basingstoke community how much the store has improved.

“The most important thing is that we are going to be able to give customers a very different experience, improving the atmosphere, reducing waiting times and using our updated technology to make sure it’s a smooth process.”
