A SOUTHAMPTON businesswoman said she is at her “wits end” after for months putting up with drunken revellers urinating in her shop doorway.

Janet Bowen, who runs Jan’s Bridal Studio in Millbrook, is fed-up with drinkers using the doorway as a urinal after nights out.

She has leased the shop in Windermere Avenue from the city council for five years but said any measures to stop the problem have been thwarted by the lack of CCTV cameras catching people in the act.

She said: “I’m in a Catch-22 situation at the moment. I just don’t know where else to turn. Unless I catch someone doing it, I’m no further forward.

“It tends to be worse on a weekend, on Saturday and Monday mornings. We have to clean it up before the brides get here.”

A spokesman from Southampton City Council said they regularly check, clean and disinfect a corner on Windermere Road Shopping Parade.

They said: “The area has also been jet washed twice and we are looking into other options that could be implemented to help improve the area’s hygiene in the long term.”
