THE taste of summer proved irresistible to parched employees at two of Basingstoke's business parks on Wednesday.

When two members of staff from Farnham-based tech PR agency Whiteoaks arrived in a hired ice cream van they were overwhelmed by demand for their free ice creams.

The warm day saw queues stretched out as employees at Chineham Park and Intec Business Park were eager to enjoy ice creams of many flavours along with the traditional 99s.

Sharon Barlow and Elisse Lengden served more than 600 ice creams and distributed more than 100 distinctive Whiteoaks beach balls as part of the company’s Summer is Coming promotion.

Many of those queuing for their ice creams already knew about the Whiteoaks fun thanks to trails on social media and a mail-out. Others tweeted their appreciation and asked for a return visit.

Sharon, who is associate director at Whiteoaks, which is one of the UK’s top technology PR agencies, said: “It was all about raising awareness of Whiteoaks among local businesses and judging from the response, we certainly succeeded in whipping up interest.”
