IT WAS an April Fool that put red hot fuel into a Hampshire motoring dealership’s business.

When car dealer Peter Cooper VW advertised their latest curry-powered car outside their Hedge End premises they received a lot of calls from customers interested in a test drive.

Their prank even cooked up a storm on social media site Twitter with Saints legend Matt Le Tissier retweeting the picture.

Dozens of people phoned into the dealership for more information and to test drive the car and everyone who enquired will be put into a draw to win vouchers for a meal at Southampton Indian and Thai restaurants Kuti’s.

Darren Cooper, managing director of Peter Cooper Group, said: “We hope no one was too put out by our April Fool. I think most people guessed as much and everyone we spoke to saw the funny side of it.

“Matt retweeted it which probably got us some of the interest. I think it must have got about half-a-million views on Twitter. It had lots of interaction locally we had customers phoning up saying they liked the story.”

“It’s allowed us to develop our relationship with the community.”
