THIRSTY punters have drunk Southampton's first micropub dry.
The Butcher's Hook which opened in Bitterne Park Triangle last Friday was so successful on its first weekend that it ran out of beer on Saturday night which meant it could not open the following day.
Dozens of people lined the streets in the Triangle on Friday and Saturday waiting to sample some of the Butcher's Hooks cask beers after it was opened by Southampton Itchen MP John Denham.
Joint owner of the Butcher's Hook Anthony Nicholls, said: “We had an inkling it would busy but we were a little bit surprised it was so busy.
The reason we did not open yesterday (Sunday) is that we ran out of beer by 10pm on Saturday.”
“We are really sorry for anyone who came along and was unable to get in on Friday or Saturday. We stillaged as much beer as we possibly could and you drank the whole lot.”
The tiny watering hole will be up and running again on Wednesday at 6pm.
