A WINCHESTER care home which underwent a major refurbishment has won an architectural award.
St Cross Grange Care Home, in Saint Cross Road, was lauded in the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards in the regeneration – care homes category following its £4m refurbishment last year.
The home, which provides residential and dementia care for 64 residents, was awarded a £500 cheque from Pinders, which they have since donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.
The refurbishment saw the introduction of a dedicated dementia unit, and nursing unit, as well as improvements to bedrooms and communal spaces.
Teri Packer, home manager, said she is pleased to have been nominated.
She said: “Such recognition highlights the fantastic work which has been carried out during the refurbishment managing to blend the old with the new build, while combining the very latest interior design for the care of older people.”
