A GROWING Basingstoke business is looking to clean-up in 2014.

Liz Baker, managing director of Boatman Cleaning Services, based at Loddon Business Park, in Armstrong Road, is optimistic for the year ahead.

But don’t confuse the name of the business with anything to do with boats and this winter’s floods.

“We do get calls asking if we clean boats, but it’s my maiden name,” explained Liz The successful business has built-up a spick and span reputation working on premises for some impressive names including Sainsbury’s and Bombay Sapphire Gin.

Liz said: “We do builders cleans, where we go to sites and clean up after builders. During the summer, we worked at the new Sainbury’s depot on Houndmills and we worked at the new Bombay Sapphire distillery at Laverstoke.”

Boatman Cleaning also does work for Hampshire Fire & Rescue, providing an oven cleaning service for its touring chip pan demonstration van.

And it is closely related to this area that Liz wants to expand the business by providing a new kitchen cleaning service.

Boatman Cleaning Services has received the Building and Engineering Services Association TR19 standard, which means the firm is qualified to provide services for extractor fans and duct work in restaurants, pubs and clubs – an important job as verification of clean fans and ventilation systems is required for insurance purposes.

Liz said: “As far as I know, we are the only firm in the south to have the TR19 standard so I’m confident there’s plenty of scope for our services, so I’m looking forward to a very busy New Year.”
