Personal service is the key to success for Eloquin Health & Beauty
A FRIENDLY beauty salon in the heart of Basingstoke celebrated its 20th anniversary in style last week.
Eloquin Health & Beauty first opened its doors for business in 1993, when proprietor Kerri Self decided to cut down on the hours she was spending on her mobile beauty business and set up shop in a converted old coach house in Goat Lane.
She said: “I was travelling to people’s homes in and around Basingstoke, but was working 12 hour days. I thought I could use my time better if I had my own salon. Initially, I really did save time as I wasn’t spending four hours a day travelling on the road.”
It was clearly a good decision, despite Kerri starting the business during a recession. Now she has worked her way through her second recession and the business is growing, especially over the last three years.
“We have worked hard with direct marketing, going straight to people who have been in the salon before who are on our database and that has really worked,” explained Kerri.
In addition, Kerri has made good use of social media using Twitter and Facebook. Part of the secret of success at the salon is down to the very personal service that is offered to Eloquin’s clients, who come to the salon for a variety of treatments such as hot stone therapy, therapeutic tissue massage and pedicures. Alternative therapies are also offered such as reflexology and Hopi ear candle therapy. Body treatments include Spray Tans, Body Spa as well as hair removal and men’s treatments, including the salon’s Men’s MOT, featuring an aromatherapy facial.
Kerri said: “Personal service has retained our clients, as we really aim to make everybody feel comfortable.
“We are really down-to-earth here.”
The birthday celebrations, which included a toast with Champagne, were a great success, she added.
“We had a great day and it was busy, with people coming in just to say happy birthday.”
During the day, the salon held colour analysis, skin analysis and even a permanent make-up demonstration.
