ENTERPRISING Hampshire students are hoping to turn the humble mug into a money-spinner.
As part of a business challenge, the five teenage entrepreneurs from Wildern School in Hedge End are hoping to rake in the cash for charity by selling a novel recipe book.
All the recipes in the book can be whipped up in a mug and the team are hoping it will appeal to students or people on a budget.
Team member Abigail Wall said: “We came up with the idea from one of our team members Jessie Wall who makes a lot of cakes and invents her own recipes.
“She came up with the recipe ‘chocolate cake in a mug’ so we expanded from that idea to make a recipe book which gives you recipes you can make in a mug.
“We thought it was a great idea as it’s original and will be something completely new in the book industry.
“We are hoping by the end of this project to make about £500.”
The team will be selling the product alongside other teams from secondary schools in the area at a trading day at the Cascades Shopping Centre in Portsmouth on March 16.
The competition is organised by the Faith & Football Social Enterprise and Business Challenge and is aimed at making business come alive for students, by building their confidence, while helping to raise funds for the underprivileged overseas.
