2:31pm Tuesday 12th February 2013 in Hampshire Business
The Republic website today
FASHION chain Republic is on the brink of going into administration, putting 1,000 jobs across the country at risk.
The firm runs a shop in WestQuay shopping centre in Southampton, as well as further Hampshire stores in Portsmouth and Basingstoke as well as further afield in Salisbury and Bournemouth.
In total, Republic has 121 stores across the UK.
Ernst & Young is being lined up as administrator.
Republic's problems make it the latest in a long line of High Street retailers to face significant difficulties, including Jessop's, HMV and Blockbuster all struggling in recent months.

People in Eastleigh by-election will have the chance to express their disgust on both Tories and Lib-Dem who are presiding over these economic disasters, which is hurting the workers who are losing jobs real bad.
Because although it is not the fault of workers due to which they have lost jobs, but the same political class that is responsible for creating this mess keep also on cutting their benefits while also trying to blame them for being out of work.
At least during Thatcher’s time Labour used to speak a little bit on behalf of the victims of badly baked economic policies of that government, but now Thatcherised NuLabour is shamelessly saying that they too will be doing virtually the same as ConDem Coalition of unprincipled self serving opportunists.
Country needs recreation of The Labour Party most urgently, but sadly those who still believe in Labour values, spend more time canalising each other than trying to unite under one umbrella to launch a brand new political organisation based on real Labour values.

This is the effect of Tory-led coalition policies.

There is a selfish aspect to this foolish coalition, which is ignoring every promise either party made 3 years ago.
This schoolboy-type, continual repitition of "the mess the last goverment left", is beyond a joke.
Do something you pair of hooray henries - or jog off back to the safety of your family wealth.

I suppose that this is another private sector company that Cameron said would be providing jobs for those who lost theirs in the public sector.
How many firms have gone bust since the Tory-led coalition took over two and a half years ago?

Funny how there are more people employed than ever before, DESPITE the incompetence that the last Labour government bestowed on us! Labour will go down in history as the worst case of governance ever! The only people who benefited were the Labour members who entered Parliament with virtually nothing and left as Multi-Millionaires!!

How many people are OUT OF WORK, compared to 3 years ago?
You don't know: ah, I thought so. You are a victim of the present govts massaged figures brigade. They have brought tens of thousands of cheapy workers in from abroad, and used this to falsely claim (by insinuation) that jobless figures have fallen...
WRONG
People in work (minimum wage) numbers have gone up, but this has not addressed the true picture.

Statistics can and ARE massaged to suit those who are issuing them.
According to government statistics there are more people employed, but they fail to give figures of how many of them are employed part-time, but are still registered as in employment.
Being part-time, many are also in receipt of benefits.
If you wish to raise the subject of millionaires. Check out the government front bench.
