STOWELL Winifred Alice It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Winifred Stowell. After a brief stay in Winchester hospital, she passed away peacefully on Saturday 11th March 2017 from pneumonia and heart failure, aged 101. The funeral will be held at St John the Baptist, Alresford on Friday 31st March at 12.30pm. A dear elderly friend has died and I just want to mark her passing. She was 101 years old, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. A second world war nurse who healed the injured, a teacher who helped to created the home economics syllabus and supported many under privileged children. A positive and pragmatic person who knew her own mind, but tried not to judge others. A great listener and calming spirit. A wife who supported her husband to go back to university in his 80s to get his history degree and then write local history books. An artist and lover of life. Someone who discovered early on who and what she was and what made her happy and most importantly contented with her life. Her and her husband are my role models for life in so many ways. May your spirit and zest for life continue on with your family and friends. We all love and miss you. Brian & Cherry xx
