Hampshire expect to have Owais Shah available when they play their fifth T20 semi-final in as many seasons, against Lancashire Lightning.

James Vince stunned an 11,237 crowd at Trent Bridge with an unbeaten 93 as Hampshire beat Notts by five wickets and with an over to spare to reach Finals Day for a record fifth year in succession.

Hampshire are likely to be without their two overseas players, Glenn Maxwell and Kyle Abbott, at Edgbaston on August 23 and cannot sign a replacement for the biggest day in the county calendar.

But Shah is expected to be available following his stint at the Caribbean Premier League.

Maxwell now leaves for a Cricket Australia training camp, while Abbott is unlikely to play for Hampshire again this season because of South Africa’s limited-overs series in Zimbabwe and next month’s T20 Champions League.

Abbott yesterday said there was “a possibility” he could be available, but Hampshire coach Dale Benkenstein does not expect either player to be at Edgbaston.

He said: “Owais should be available and we are under the impression Kyle isn’t coming back. It may be that there is a window after all but it’s a matter of him travelling from Zimbabwe. Glenn won’t be coming back due to his commitments with Cricket Australia.”

Benkenstein revealed that Hampshire’s win against Notts, whose 197-8 was their second best Trent Bridge score of the season, was the best T20 chase he had witnessed.

“Definitely, in the circumstances,” he said. “The average for a winning score here is 157 so to be under that pressure and play so well shows we have big-game players.

“It was incredible and had nothing to do with me - they turned it on against all the odds. It just shows what quality Vincey has and there were good knocks from Carbs and Ervine too.”

Warwickshire will play Surrey in the other T20 semi-final
