CITY planners have received a reduced application for 32 homes at a controversial site in Kings Worthy.

Phil Farminer has submitted plans for homes on land off Hookpit Farm Lane for the third time after Winchester City Council rejected his second attempt in April.

The proposal would see 25 properties built on Top Field, as it is locally known, with seven self-builds on Dildawn. It would also include upgrading works to the existing access, with associated roads, parking and landscaping.

In August last year an application by developer Drew Smith for 50 homes on Top Field with seven on Dildawn and optional access off Springvale Road was refused.

The current application comes after the parish council voted to support building on land off Lovedon Lane last year for the local plan.

The city council recently consulted residents on ideas to build affordable homes at Top Field - which was met with uproar by some residents who said it was undemocratic.

The target decision date for the current application is August 4.
