FIVE catering students have been cooking up a storm at a hotel near Winchester as part of their hospitality training.
The group, made up of students from Hampshire and Dorset, took part in the event at Lainston House, organised by the Southern Branch of the Institure of Hospitality.
The winner of the hospitality services category was Chloe Coxhill, from Bournemouth and Poole College, while the winner of the food craft category was also a Chloe – Chloe Moseby of Highbury in Portsmouth.
The runners up were Penny Hutchison, Andrew Abell and Clark Montano.
Each of the Chloes has received a master class, to be held at the Winchester hotel as well as Chewton Glen – a popular spot in the New Forest.
Judges included Lainston’s Andrew Mackenzie, Jon Rook of Panache Consultancy, Patsy Morgan of Southampton Solent University, and Beverly Helliwell Smith, of Housekeeping.
Tom Goss, chair of the Southern Branch of the Institute of Hospitality, said: “The entrants received quite a grilling from the judges but the students responded very well. The calibre of the entries this year was so good that the judges had to make some really tough decisions.”
