POLICE are appealing for information after a woman died in a motorway smash.
It happened yesterday (December 15) when a grey Fiat Stilo and a lorry collided, killing a 26-year-old Southampton woman and leaving two others in hospital.
The incident, at around 7.40am, was between junctions nine and 10 of the M3 southbound.
The Fiat collided with the rear of a lorry, before leaving the carriageway and coming to a stop on its roof.
A 24-year-old man, the driver of the Fiat, and a 36-year-old woman, a passenger, both of Southampton, were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The 26-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision.
The carriageway was reopened just after midday.
