A WINCHESTER charity has been given a cheque for £4,000 following fundraising activities by a major festival.
Street Reach aims to empower vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in the city to recognise and achieve their full potential.
The donation from BoomTown, which follows fundraising at its popular annual festival held at Matterley Bowl, will enable the organisation to continue its work with the young community.
This includes the funding of local initiatives, social activities and educational workshops.
Jackie Porter, chairman of Street Reach, said “We’d like to say a big thank you to BoomTown for its generous donation and to all those who attended the fair and participated in its fundraising efforts.
"As a local charity, this contribution will enable us to continue to fund activities that keep Winchester’s young people off the streets - especially our popular Friday football initiative at Henry Beaufort School.
“The charity is proud of its ability to gain the trust of our young people and offer a channel to challenge negative behaviour, instead offering support and guidance.
"Donations such as those from BoomTown are invaluable and will be used towards ensuring all of Winchester’s youngsters are given the best possible opportunities to succeed in life.”
