A WINCHESTER Post Office is set for refurbishment, and will open for 65 extra hours a week.
Based in the Southern Co-operative, in Stoney Lane, Weeke, the branch and shop will shut on Thursday, August 7, at 5.30pm for just over a fortnight.
It will have two screened positions and a combi-counter – a Post Office terminal which sits alongside the shop’s retail till and offers most services.
Currently the branch opens Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm, and Saturday, 9am-12.30pm. The new hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am-11pm, and Sunday, 8am-11pm.
Car tax renewal has been added to its services. Adrian Skinner, area manager, said: “We know how important Post Office services are to Winchester residents. We are confident this vibrant modern Post Office, at the heart of the community, will be popular.”
The move is part of the Government’s £2 billion investment for the Post Office network.
It will open at 9am on Friday, August 22.
