PUBLIC services across Hampshire are set for disruption tomorrow with firefighters, social workers, court staff, teachers and traffic wardens among those taking action over pay and pensions.

Among the unions taking part are the Fire Brigades Union, GMB, National Union of Teachers, Unison, Unite and the Public and Commercial Services Union.

The extent of the action was unclear as the Chronicle went to press but it is set to affect both Hampshire and Winchester councils including meals on wheels, parking attendants and burials.

Job Centres are set to be closed and Winchester Crown Court is expected to be hit as is the driving test centre in Christchurch Road.

Firefighters will be on strike between 10am-7pm.

In Winchester Unison and Unite members will picket county council buildings from 7.30am before a city centre rally at 12.30pm.

Tim Cutter, Unison branch secretary, said: “It is not a fight we have chosen. We want to get a decent wage for people who deliver service.”
