FIREFIGHTERS from across Hampshire were called when a shooting lodge near Winchester became engulfed in flames.
Around 35 firefighters from Winchester, Eastleigh, Bishop’s Waltham, Redbridge and Fareham tackled the blaze on Belmore Lane in Owslebury yesterday (July 4).
Five jets, including one fan spray and foam, were used at the scene after emergency services were called at 5.16pm.
It is not yet known what caused the fire.
A spokesman for the Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: “This was a stone and timber construction and measured 15m by 12m and was 100 per cent fully involved with fire.
“We are unaware of the cause at this time. Relief crews carried on until around midnight to dampen down.”
Water carriers were sent from Eastleigh and Fareham and the fire was officially stopped at 9.45pm.
