JUST a skeleton of the former church remains, as fire fighters continue to hose the clock tower.
There are no visible flames but the building is still smoking.
Fragments of the former roof continue to fall, with the tower still standing.
The headstones that surround the building on Church Street appear largely intact.
Residents have set up a tea and coffee table under a large yew tree.
Villager Angus Brown said: "As we stepped into the garden we saw smoke billowing from the roof of the church. After calling the emergency services over 100 fire crew turned up. A sad day for the village with the historic church at its centre."
