A HAMPSHIRE centre which provides essential support to disabled people has received donations from the public to the tune of nearly £130,000.

The Rainbow Centre in Fareham supports children suffering with cerebral palsy and adults born with severe neurological impairment launched a crisis appeal in March following the threat of closure.

It aims to raise £150,000 to keep its services running and have been given £129,000 in just four weeks of campaigning.

Director Lara Bull said: “The support has been absolutely overwhelming, both by the speed and level of support. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed, we are extremely grateful for your support.

“For those of you that are thinking of supporting us, we would urge you to help, as your donation could make a massive difference to many people lives, not just now, but for years to come.

“We have been so grateful to all the press, media and radio stations that have covered our appeal and helped us reach an audience we could have only dreamt of throughout the past month. This support has undoubtedly played a major part in our campaign’s success.

“In the coming month there shall be another push via regional monthly publications that are running stories to support us and, again, we are incredibly grateful as this will help us reach another audience again.”
