WINCHESTER’S Charlie Steggall is to sing his socks off this weekend at the Reading heat of the national TeenStar contest, currently sweeping the country in its search for a future recording star.
The Westgate School pupil wowed judges at his audition and will now take part in the regional final, where a strong live vocal performance is vital to success.
The 12-year-old, who likes listening to Ed Sheeran and Passenger, hopes to follow in the footsteps of X Factor finalist Luke Friend, a previous winner of the competition.
“I can’t wait to perform,” he said, posing for pictures clutching a microphone.
“It will be nerve-wracking but really exciting.
“I really hope as many people as possible will come along to support me and help me get through to the next stage.”
All power to your vocal chords Charlie.
