STUDENTS in Eastleigh have been trying to change perceptions of teenagers.
Three Year 11 pupils at Wyvern College invited some older members of their community into the school as part of their Citizenship Campaign ‘Elderly people are intimidated by teenagers’.
Alliyah Turnbull, Libby Griffiths and Ella Cowan took their visitors into a Year 11 assembly, on a tour of the school, in to a meeting with pupils, and ended the morning with a coffee and cake in the College cafe.
The visitors said they had never personally been made to feel uncomfortable by teenagers, and blamed the media for the threatening and unfriendly image of them.
One visitor said: “Although there are exceptions talking to teenagers in a friendly way means that most will treat you with respect.”
