LET there be light. And there was light – from 20,000 bulbs on a Hampshire home.

Barry Pearce has illuminated his Winchester home to raise money for charity for more than ten years.

This year Barry is raising funds for Shepherds Down Special School at Compton which is trying to raise £20,000 for a sensory light room.

He reckons his festive lights on his home in Green Close, Headbourne Worthy, has raised more than a £1,000 for charity over the last decade.

Barry, 48, a print technician, said he has invested in LED lightings and brought the electricity bill down from £80 to about £45. The lights took five days to put up.

He said: “The reaction has been very good. People are saying I am doing a fantastic job.

“We have no street lights around here so whether you are coming from Kings Worthy or Harestock there is a real wow factor.”
