Fareham borough council has confirmed approval for the first new homes to be built at Welborne Garden Village following unanimous approval by its planning committee.

As previously reported, Welborne’s vision for a new garden village of 6,000 homes just outside Wickham has taken a significant step forward, with CG Fry & Son receiving the go-ahead to build 111 homes as part of a joint venture with master developer, Buckland.

Located at the western end of the Dashwood neighbourhood, CG Fry & Son’s development features a substantial landscaped corridor, offering public open space.

This announcement follows recent approvals for Welborne’s other partner housebuilders, Thakeham and Pye Homes, and the registration of Welborne's village centre planning application, which will provide a school, GP surgery, pub/hotel, cafes, shops, and sports facilities.

This latest planning permission takes Welborne up to 474 houses approved, out of a total 700 expected in the first phase of the development, with permission for the village centre and a further 71 houses to be confirmed.

Fareham Borough Council have confirmed the three regional housebuilders are now able to begin construction of the 474 homes, which will form part of the Chesterfield and Dashwood neighbourhoods.

Pye Homes has received approval to build 210 homes in Dashwood, a mix of one, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes including 19 affordable.

Thakeham Homes has been issued approval for 153 homes in the Chesterfield neighbourhood, comprising of one, two, three and four-bed homes including 12 affordable homes.

CG Fry & Son has been given planning permission for 111 homes in the Dashwood neighbourhood comprising of one, two, three, four and five-bed homes including 10 affordable homes.

All of the developments will include associated parking and landscaping works. The planning applications issued also cover infrastructure to support these homes, including roads, refuse and recycling storage, utility connections and other associated works.

The issuing of these approvals represents another major milestone for Welborne Garden Village, which will eventually provide homes for around 15,000 people and provide much-needed affordable homes in the Borough.
